Breathwork

Ecstatic Breath

In the breathwork space, there is micro & macro practices.

Mircro breathwork can be described as down regulation, or practices to do in our everyday life to help manage stress, anxiety and help get deeper sleep. Examples of this can be coherence breathing, 4,7,8 breathing or simply ensuring we are breathing in a healthy way.

Macro breathwork can be described as more activating, self exploration, altered state of consciousness practices. Examples of this would be Conscious connected breathwork, holotropic or rebirthing breathwork. Practices like these are best done guided by a facilitator.

Breathwork can be easily described as taking control of the breath.

On average humans breath 20,000 times a day. Humans can go days without food, days without water, minutes without breathing.

I don’t know about you, but for me, taking control of my breath is a priority in my life.

What is breathwork?

How to practice?

In times of stress & adversity, one of the first things to get effected is the breath. It can speed up and get quite shallow. Slowing down the breath and breathing a little deeper can signal safety to the body. Reducing stress and bringing a sense of calm.

We live in a fast paced world of constantly doing. How can the body fully rest & recover if always doing? Breathwork creates a space for the body to slow down.

For me, some of the main benefits I get from breathwork are stress reduction, increased focus & concentration, emotional & nervous system regualation.

Depending on what the person wants to achieve from a session, I tailor a practice for them. Whether it be stress managment and improved sleep, emotional regulation, or breathing for improved physical performance.
